Renaissance Man

I’ve just finished and uploaded Episode 064. This screencast demonstrates the use of Inkscape’s Object->Clip->Set function for some creative bitmap masking.
Head over there to watch or download the episode and check out any of the other 63 episodes we’ve done so far.
Happy Canada Day tomorrow everybody!

Episode 061 is now up. In this screencast I demonstrate how to create a pseudo-realistic looking recycle bin type object. It could be useful for someone wanting to create icons perhaps. It only took 7 or 8 objects to create and demonstrates how some subtle uses of gradients and blurs can help get the effect […]

Episode 057 is now up over on Screencasters. This one took more than a few takes. But I finally got something presentable.

Inkscape version 0.46 is now out. Anybody who reads this blog with any regularity will know that I am a huge Inkscape fan. I think they have packages available for Gutsy right now, with other versions (including the windows installer files) probably arriving shortly.

Major kudos to heathenx for man-handling wordpress into service for both the main episode site and our screencasters blog. Check out his launch post about it. And also check out the new sites and report back any problems or suggestions. […]

I’ve *finally* completed a new screencast. Sorry for the long delay. This one was a fun one. It demonstrates a fairly easy way to take a single image and break it up into component ’snapshots’. So it looks like you took several pictures of different parts of an object and reassembled them. The example I […]

Are you trying to illustrate some important world changing idea? Or just want to show the world you’re the next xkcd or the next Hugh Macleod?
Check out Sketchcast.

I finally got around to fixing the glitchy video by re-encoding my screencast episode 35. I also managed to upload it to YouTube although with it being over 10 minutes long, I once again had to split it up into part 1 and part 2.
The workflow was still by no means painless. There are a […]
